BARCELONA.- The Polish striker Barcelona, Robert Lewandowskisuffered a muscle tear in the femoral biceps of his left thigh, the Catalan club reported this Tuesday, meaning he will miss the Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26.
“It is low and the recovery time will depend on the evolution of the injury,” the Catalan entity said in a statement.
According to the Spanish press, the 37-year-old footballer will be out of the field for between three and six weeks, so he will not play in the duel against real Madrid.
Joan Garcia, Marc ter Stegen, Gavi and Dani Olmo will also not be recovered against the meringues, while Lamine Yamal and Fermín López returned to training this week.
The Polish striker has seen how his coach, Hansi Flick, has been dosing his minutes to the point that Ferran Torres, also with physical discomfort, has taken away his starting position.
Lewandowski rested on Thursday in Poland’s friendly against New Zealand, but ended up injured in the match against Lithuania on Sunday.
The Barça striker, who underwent physical tests this Tuesday upon his arrival in Barcelona, scored a goal in the 64th minute that made it 2-0 in Kaunas for his team.
“We have not achieved anything,” says Costa Rica coach
Costa Rica’s coach, Mexican Miguel Herrera, warned this Monday after beating Nicaragua in the Concacaf World Cup qualifier that his team has not yet achieved anything.
“We are working, we have not achieved anything, it is nothing more than a victory,” said ‘Piojo’ Herrera at a press conference.
However, it is a victory that “gives us the possibility to continue on the path, to aspire to what we want to achieve,” he added.
With two days left, Honduras leads Group C with 8 points, followed by Costa Rica with 6, Haiti with 5 and Nicaragua with 1. The Costa Rican strategist considered the result “fair” because his team “overcame” its rival with a “good job” based on order.
“I really liked the order, what the team transmitted on the field, security, poise, knowing what we had to do,” said Herrera.
