Ancelotti confirms the return of Courtois to the Real Madrid goal

MADRID.- The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotticonfirmed this Friday that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will play against Cádiz on Saturday, on his return to the competition after his serious knee injury.

“Thibaut is fine. Tomorrow he will play after a long time,” Ancelotti said in the press conference prior to the matchday 34 match.

“It's good news for us that he's back. He's doing very well, he's very excited. I think we're all delighted that he can return,” Ancelotti added.

Courtois has not played for Real Madrid since he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in training in August, a few days before the start of the season.

On the verge of returning in March, the Belgian international suffered a tear in his medial meniscus, for which he had to undergo surgery and delayed his comeback.

Ancelotti did not want, however, to say whether Courtois could start in the event of a hypothetical Champions League final.

“The final we have in mind is Wednesday against Bayern (Munich, in the second leg of the continental tournament's semi-finals) in which Lunin will play, and then we'll see,” Ancelotti said.

Other advances from Ancelotti:

The merengue coach also announced that the Brazilian defender Militao will start on Saturday to continue accumulating minutes after his return from injury and that the young Turk Arda Güler will start starting out.

Real Madrid could become league champions on Saturday if they win their match against Cádiz and Barcelona do not do so in their duel with Girona, but the merengue coach prefers to remain cautious.

“It is not in our hands, that is why we do not want to talk about celebration. The objective is to add three points to get closer to winning this competition, we do not think about what may happen next, just add three points against a team that is fighting not to descend,” he concluded.
