Álvaro Arbeloa: “As long as we can mathematically fight, Real Madrid will”

The coach of Real Madrid, Alvaro Arbeloaassured that his team will continue fighting for the LaLiga title as long as there is any mathematical possibility, despite the complicated moment that the white team is going through.

The Madrid coach spoke in advance of the match against Celta de Vigo corresponding to matchday 27 of the championship, after the team suffered two consecutive defeats in the League that left it four points behind the leader, FC Barcelona.

“Of course there are 36 points left to play, we are four points away, not 18. This is Real Madrid, as long as mathematically we can fight, we will,” Arbeloa declared this Thursday.

The coach insisted that the club’s mentality does not allow giving up prematurely.

“I don’t understand Real Madrid in any other way than to continue fighting. In the locker room we are aware that there is a lot, a lot of League left,” he added.

A difficult moment after two defeats

Real Madrid comes into the match after losing 2-1 against Osasuna and 1-0 against Getafe, results that have increased the pressure on the team in the fight for the championship.

Arbeloa acknowledged that defeats always weigh on a club with the demands of Madrid.

“In a team like Real Madrid, defeat is always difficult to manage due to expectations and demands, but right now the only thing we think about is tomorrow’s game,” he said.

A Real Madrid with numerous casualties

For the duel in Vigo, the Madrid coach will have to face important absences in his squad.

Among the injured are Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Éder Militão.

In addition, the team will also be without the suspended Franco Mastantuono, Dean Huijsen and Miguel Carreras.

Despite the situation, Arbeloa made it clear that he does not intend to hide behind the casualties.

“When you win and everyone plays well, it is very easy to put on this shirt. We have to be seen now. It is in these moments that we see if we are worth wearing this shirt and this shield,” he stressed.

Situation of Mbappé and Bellingham

The coach also referred to Mbappé and Bellingham’s trips to Paris and London, respectively, to continue their recovery processes.

According to Arbeloa, the treatment of both players is completely coordinated by the club.

“The decisions are perfectly organized by Real Madrid’s medical services and the physical preparation department,” he explained.

With 36 points still at stake in LaLiga, Real Madrid will seek to react on its visit to Celta to stay in the fight for the championship.
