Esteban Ocon will not race the next Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This was announced this Monday by the team Alpineconfirming rumors that pointed to an early separation before the final race of the season next weekend.
On Sunday after the race in Qatar, a rumor spread that Esteban Ocon might not run the last race of the season with Alpine, now it is official and Jack Doohan will be his replacement.
His departure comes just after colliding with the Argentine Franco Colapinto in Qatar, which caused both drivers to withdraw from the Grand Prix.
It is not that this crash forced his separation from the team, but rather that the driver was no longer interested in continuing.
It is a decision that comes from Flavio Briatore’s head. The French driver, aware that next year he will not race in Alpine, asked his team to be able to run the postseason tests, which are very important to begin to have the first sensations with the haashis new team for 2025.
Likewise, Jack Doohan, who will run with number 61, will also occupy the position in the Abu Dhabi tests. The Australian, 21 years old and son of former motorcyclist Mick Doohan, is registered as a reserve driver despite the fact that he will make up the official squad next season alongside Pierre Gasly.
