BARCELONA.- The German coach of Barcelona, Hansi Flick, said Saturday that he is happy with the current situation of his staff, at a sweet moment of the season in which the calendar gives a truce to his men.
“We have 17 or 18 players who can play many minutes, I say it because I am very happy and there is a great atmosphere. Everyone wants to show off and demonstrate how good they are, that is fantastic,” Flick said at a press conference prior to the game in front of Sevilla in Sánchez Pizjuán.
Barça arrives with high moral after imposing 5-0 Valencia In Mestalla on Thursday with a ‘Hat Trick’ by Ferran Torres and qualify for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.
“We have the players at a similar level, they demonstrated it in the last game in Valencia, everyone can play, we need fresh legs in a game that is very important,” Flick continued, before confirming that he will see the derby this Saturday between the Real Madrid and Atlético.
“First I will see Barça B; then, I will have dinner and if I have time I will look at him. It is an interesting game because they are two of the best in Europe and surely I will see it.”
The Barca coach revealed that goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen follows his normal recovery process. “The state of Ter Stegen is private information, you have to talk to doctors. We are happy. It has already started working, everything is on the right track, it has improved a lot and has begun to train,” he said.
Without races
Questioned about his renewal, Flick said he is not hurried: “I am not under pressure, I love working and we have a lot of potential. I have time and two years of contract is a long time.”
After the meeting against Sevilla in the Andalusian capital, the Culé team will have a week without matches. The next one will play on February 17 against Rayo Vallecano in Montjuic.
“It is very important that the players have a few days off, first we will think about Sevilla and then, we must plan the week well because we do not play until Monday. We can also train, it is good,” said Flick.
