MIAMI — A 65-year-old man convicted of rape and the murder of a woman in 1998 was executed in Florida Tuesday by lethal injection.
Norman Grim withdrew appeals against his death sentence and died at 6:14 p.m. local time (10:14 p.m. GMT) in a Florida state prison, reported the Department of Corrections of this southern state of the United States.
Grim was convicted of the rape and murder of Cynthia Campbell, 41, a lawyer who was his neighbor.
He was sentenced to death in 2000.
So far this year, 41 executions have been recorded in the United States, the highest number since 2012, when 43 were recorded.
Florida is the state with the most executions this year, accounting for 15, including Grim.
