José Altuve is one home run away from equaling Manny Ramírez’s record in the postseason

HOUSTON.- Little José Altuve, just 5.6 feet tall, is about to become the biggest home run hitter in Major League Baseball postseason history.

The second baseman of the Houston Astros hit a 353-foot home run, which had an exit velocity of 98 miles per hour, and is one home run away from equaling the mark of Manny Ramírez, owner of home runs in the playoffs with 29.

Altuve, in a 1-1 count, broke an 86.5 mph slider from Sean Burke to pull the Astros within 4-3 in Game 2 of the wild-card series against the Chicago White Sox.

The Venezuelan, who hit his first home run this season, hit 7 in 2017 when the Sidereals won their first World Series ring. He hit 5 homers in each of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 postseasons.

In 2023 he hit 4 homers and in 2018 he missed it once.

This afternoon’s home run was the second he managed to hit against the White Sox in the Playoffs.

Rays, the team that has suffered the most from Altuve

The Tampa Bay Rays are the team that has suffered the most with Altuve’s power in the postseason, with 6 home runs. Then the Boston Red Sox, with 5. The New York Yankees complete the podium with 4.

The Texas Rangers have received Altuve’s punishment 3 times in the postseason, while the Venezuelan has shown his power with at least two home runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Athletics, while the Cleveland Guardians and the Minnesota Twins have each suffered a home run from the Houston waiter.
