WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced the approval of new fuel efficiency standards, steps that “nullify” the “ridiculous” incentive policies for electric vehicles promoted by his predecessor in the White House, Democrat Joe Biden.
“It’s a great day for America’s auto workers and car buyers,” Trump said in a social media message. “I just approved new fuel efficiency standards that overturn the ridiculous decision on electric vehicles,” he said, referring to the aforementioned policies.
Thus, he accused the Democratic Party of causing the automotive sector to lose “billions of dollars” and “forcing Americans to use cars they never wanted.” “They spent billions of dollars on chargers that were never built,” he explained.
The White House tenant, who did not detail what changes he approved or when they will come into effect, argued that these steps “will end waste in automobile manufacturing in the United States.”

“That means lower prices, saving families thousands of dollars when purchasing a new, beautiful and safe vehicle; far superior to those ‘environmental monsters’ that were being manufactured until now,” highlighted the US president.
Likewise, he assured that “all the manufacturers” have already contacted him to “express their desire” to produce in the United States. “Now they can do it,” he stressed, while defending that his Administration “is investing more than $100 billion in American vehicles.”
“That’s just the beginning. Factories are coming back, jobs are coming back to Michigan, Ohio, India, South Carolina and the rest of the country,” said Trump, who also thanked the secretaries of Transportation and Commerce, Sean Duffy and Howard Lutnick, respectively, for their work.
