PARIS.- The International Automobile Federation (FIA) decided, this Monday in London in its commission destined to reform the regulations, shorten the Formula 1 Grand Prix for the 2027 season.
The entity decided to reduce the races from a total of 307 kilometers to 290 kilometers, a cut that will mean two or three fewer laps per test.
The FIA and the Formula One They stated in separate statements that this reduction was an inevitable consequence of a previous decision to reduce fuel flow in the engines.
They also decided to cancel plans for “homologation” of gearboxes to “preserve the freedom of development of suppliers.”
The commission also amended rules on how long organizers can wait to resume racing after a rain interruption, “to ensure that spectators have the best possible opportunity to enjoy a full race if interruptions occur.”
The FIA statement said the commission has also introduced changes to this season’s sporting and financial rules, but did not offer details.
Hadjar will return to Azerbaijan
The French pilot Isaac Hadjar will get back into his car to race this coming weekend in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix of Formula 1his team announced this Monday Red Bull.
Hadjar, 21, missed the last three races of the World (Netherlands, Italy and Spain) after injuring his wrist during training during the summer break.
“Having successfully recovered from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action on the street circuit of Baku on Thursday,” Red Bull announced in a statement.
During his absence, the second Red Bull car was driven by the New Zealander. Liam Lawson and added 14 points.
Lawson will now return to Racing Bullssister team of Red Bull.
Batum retires from basketball
The veteran French forward Nicolas Batum announced this Monday his retirement from basketball after an 18-year career in the NBA and two Olympic silver medals won with his team.
Batum, 37, made the announcement through an almost ten-minute video in which he appears explaining his decision to his son.
“Dad has finished playing basketball,” says the player in the video recorded in Pont-l’Evequethe French city where he learned to play as a child.
