Ronald Acuña Jr. once again wrote his name in the history books of the Major Leagues.
The Venezuelan superstar of the Atlanta Braves became the fastest player to reach 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases in MLB history this Wednesday, by hitting a three-run home run during the seventh inning of his team’s 9-0 victory over the Washington Nationals, at Nationals Park.
The hit was Acuña’s 14th home run of the season and allowed the Braves to extend their lead to 6-0 at that point in the game. Beyond contributing to Atlanta’s victory, the home run had a special meaning for the Venezuelan, who reached a mark that only a small group of players has achieved.
Acuña came to the club 200-200 in just 904 games, surpassing the previous mark by 25 games, which belonged to the Dominican Alfonso Soriano, who needed 929 games to reach both figures.

The Venezuelan had already reached 200 stolen bases on June 24, 2025. Since then, he only needed one home run to complete a statistical combination that places him alongside some of the great figures in baseball history.

The feat came after a 16-game wait for Acuña, who had hit his previous home run on August 15. In his 15 games prior to the historic hit, the outfielder had posted an offensive line of .207/.292/.241, unusual figures for one of the most explosive hitters in baseball.
The home run against Washington finally put an end to that drought and, at the same time, gave a new historical page to his career.
Acuña joins Hank Aaron
The Venezuelan also achieved a special mark within the Atlanta franchise. Acuña became, along with Hank Aaron, one of the only players in Braves history with at least 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases.
The magnitude of the feat becomes even clearer when reviewing the list of Venezuelans who have achieved both figures in their careers.

At 28 years old, Acuña still has a good part of his career ahead of him and continues to accumulate historical records despite the fact that the 2026 season has once again been marked by injuries.
The winner of the National League MVP in 2023 thus once again demonstrated one of the characteristics that have made him one of the great stars of MLB: his ability to combine power and speed like few players in history.
