MADRID.- The CEO of Atlético de Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil Marínadmitted this Thursday that Julian Alvarez “It’s really bad” because there are people who have confused him and reiterated the club’s refusal to transfer him to the Barcelona.
“Julián is really bad, because there are people who have taken it upon themselves to deceive him, to confuse him,” Gil Marín told Movistar+ television in Monacowhere he attended the draw for the new season of Champions.
“I really regret it because I know him, we have been working with him for a long time and he is a great person, he is a great professional, he is a great footballer, completely confused,” explained the red and white CEO.
The Argentine player, who has not trained with the team for two days, is “going through a very difficult situation on a personal and professional level,” acknowledged Gil Marín.
The club’s CEO, who expressed his hope that a “great player like Julián” wants to continue at Atlético, did not close the door on him leaving if there was no other choice, but he categorically ruled out that Barça was an option.
“The only safe and firm decision is that we are not going to negotiate with Barcelona under any circumstances,” he insisted, remembering that he has the support of the club’s shareholders and directors.
For Gil Marín, Barcelona has behaved with a lack of ethics and professionalism and rejected the statements of the Barça president, Joan Laportaon Wednesday, reiterating that they maintain the offer for Álvarez.
“What these words do is cross a red line,” warned this Thursday the vice president of Barça’s sports area, Rafa Yusteto Movistar, also from Monaco.
“In our conscience it is never possible to do things outside of what the sporting and professional parameters of a club govern,” added Yuste.
“He is not going to be transferred to Barcelona”
“I have been in football for thirty-odd years, my word is one of the few things I have and with me as CEO, the player is not going to be transferred to Barcelona, with complete security,” Gil Marín insisted.
In the morning, the board of directors of the rojiblanco club had expressed its unanimous support for the club’s position of not selling Julián to Barcelona.
