The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, once again attacked Gianni Infantino’s management at the head of FIFA and assured that the current institutional crisis will not be resolved with apologies, but with responsibilities for the decisions taken.

The statements come after FIFA withdrew its proposal to sell 20% of FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a new subsidiary that was going to manage the organization’s commercial operations and main events, including the World Cup. The project was discarded by Infantino after the criticism received and after ensuring that he had listened to all the parties involved.
For Tebas, the so-called “Rabat forgiveness” does not put an end to the controversy. The Spanish leader maintained that, if information was hidden, it is necessary to identify those responsible and demand consequences. In addition, he directly pointed to Infantino as the person who promoted and directed the process.
The top leader of LaLiga also recalled the controversial case of the American striker Folarin Balogun, whose sanction was suspended during the World Cup after political pressure publicly recognized by the president of the United States, Donald Trump. Tebas described that episode as “intolerable political interference” in the disciplinary independence of football.
Likewise, he questioned the statements of support for Infantino issued by the African Football Confederation (CAF), the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and other federations, considering that they reflect a structural problem in the governance model of world football.
Finally, Tebas assured that the meeting held in Rabat cannot become a “ceremony of absolution” and defended that this crisis must mark a turning point to promote a FIFA with greater transparency, independence and balance in decision-making.
