LeBron James reignited the rumors about his future in the NBA by hinting that his decision is getting closer. In his first public appearance since announcing his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers, the all-time leading scorer assured that fans will not have to wait much longer to find out his new destination.
“I won’t keep you waiting much longer,” James commented during the CNBC and Boardroom Game Plan Summit, leaving open the question of which team he will play with next season.
The four-time NBA champion has been linked to several franchises during this free agent market, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets.
His agent, Rich Paul, previously revealed that 27 teams had contacted him to explore the possibility of signing the 41-year-old star, reflecting the enormous interest that continues to generate one of the greatest players in history.
Teams and figures seek to convince LeBron
Interested franchises have resorted to different strategies to seduce James. 76ers executive Bob Myers even took advantage of a recent participation in the Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul podcast to highlight the virtues of Philadelphia as a possible destination.
In addition, several players have also tried to convince the veteran forward. Draymond Green confessed on his podcast that he tried to persuade him during a golf trip in Puerto Rico, while the 76ers core, made up of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown, would also have maintained contact with him.

LeBron made it clear that, no matter what his next uniform is, he will continue to be a protagonist.
“Wherever I end up this fall, I hope that those who have supported me from day one will continue with me. And if you are one of those who always criticize me, I hope to see you too,” he said with a laugh.
The star closed with a message that further increased the expectation surrounding his decision:
“It’s going to be a lot of fun. Wherever I go, I’m going to do what I do best.”
