Bayern Munich closed a perfect season in German football by winning the DFB-Pokal after beating VfB Stuttgart 3-0 in the final in Berlin, with a stellar performance from Harry Kane.
The English forward scored a hat trick in the second half with goals in the 55th, 80th and 90th minutes + 2 from a penalty, thus confirming Bayern’s absolute dominance in Germany during the 2025-2026 season.
With this victory, the Bavarian team won its twenty-first German Cup and completed the national double after having previously won the Bundesliga and the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup.
In addition, Bayern reached the Bundesliga-Cup double for the fourteenth time in its history, reaffirming an era of hegemony in German football.
Kane signs a historic season
The final also served to crown a monumental campaign for Kane, who reached 61 goals in all competitions with Bayern.
The English attacker closed the season with 36 goals in the Bundesliga, 14 in the Champions League, 10 in the Cup and one in the German Super Cup, numbers that place him among the best scoring seasons in the recent history of European football.
Before Kane, only six footballers had managed to overcome the 60-goal barrier in a single season in Europe, with Lionel Messi maintaining the all-time record with 73 goals in the 2011-2012 campaign with FC Barcelona.
“I am very happy and proud of this team. It has been a difficult season and we wanted to finish like this. Winning 3-0 and playing like this is an honor for everyone,” Kane declared after lifting the trophy.
Bayern reacted after a difficult first half
Stuttgart started the game better and created the clearest chances during the first half, especially through Maximilian Mittelstädt, taking advantage of a high press that made Bayern uncomfortable.
However, the physical wear and tear began to take its toll in the second half and the Munich team ended up imposing its offensive quality.
The first goal came after a set play between Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise, whose cross found Kane inside the area to open the scoring.
The second goal came from an assist from Colombian Luis Díaz, one of the Englishman’s great offensive partners during the season.
The win was completed in stoppage time thanks to a penalty called by Angelo Stiller, converted again by Kane.
An almost perfect season
Bayern’s only big disappointment this season was the elimination in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain in a closely contested series.
Even so, the German team equaled its historical record of 46 victories in a single season, a mark it had previously achieved in the 2012-2013 campaign, when it won the Champions League at Wembley.
For its part, Stuttgart lost the cup crown it had won the previous year, although it closed the season with the consolation of having finished fourth in the Bundesliga and assured its return to the next edition of the Champions League.
