Manchester City stumbles and could have lost the Premier League against Arsenal

Manchester City missed a key opportunity in the fight for the title after drawing 3-3 against Everton, a result that could have sentenced the Premier League in favor of Arsenal.

The team led by Pep Guardiola led at half-time, but collapsed in the second half with three goals conceded in just 15 minutes. Although he managed to rescue an agonizing draw in added time thanks to Jérémy Doku, the damage had already been done.

City loses control of the Premier

With this result, Manchester City is five points behind Arsenal, who also have their destiny in their own hands. If Mikel Arteta’s team wins their three remaining games, they will be champions of England for the first time since 2004.

In other words, City’s draw could have been decisive in the title race.

Guardiola recognized it after the game:

“It doesn’t depend on us. Before yes, now no.”

An unexpected collapse

Manchester City showed two completely opposite faces. They dominated the first half and took the lead with a goal from Doku, but suffered an unusual defensive collapse in the second half.

Individual errors and fragility in defense allowed Everton to come back, with a double from Thierno Barry and a goal from Jake O’Brien.

Not even the interventions of Gianluigi Donnarumma could prevent the partial disaster.

Insufficient reaction

City reacted late. Erling Haaland closed the gap after an assist from Mateo Kovacic, and Doku again appeared at 90+7 to save a point.

However, that tie might not be enough in a final stretch where the margin for error is minimal.

Arsenal, one step away from the title

Arsenal now have a clear path: beat West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace to become champions.

After 22 years of waiting, the title is closer than ever… and Manchester City’s stumble may have been the decisive moment.
