WASHINGTON .- The US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, stated this Friday that the new Iranian supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ali Khamenei, is “injured” and very possibly “disfigured” after the attacks that killed his father at the beginning of the war launched by Washington and Israel against Iran.
“We know that the new supposed, not so supreme, leader is injured and probably disfigured. Yesterday he published a statement, actually a quite weak one, but there was no voice and there was no video,” the Pentagon chief said at a press conference.
Focus on Iranian naval forces in the Strait of Hormuz
The Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General Dan Caine, confirmed this Friday that the “priority” strategy in the Iran war now involves the destruction of Iranian military assets, from mine-mining ships to naval bases, in the blocked Strait of Hormuz and announced that this Friday will be the scene of the most intense day of US bombing since the beginning of the conflict 13 days ago.
“We have made it a priority to attack Iran’s mining activity, naval bases and warehouses, in addition to missiles that could influence the situation in the Strait (of Hormuz),” the general said at a press conference, accompanied by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“Today will be our most intense day in terms of kinetic attacks in the area of operations,” referring to the bombings. “We have attacked more than 6,000 targets, and our attacks continue with each passing hour,” added the military high command.
General Caine, in line with comments made by Hegseth and President Donald Trump in recent days, assured that the combat capacity of the Iranian Navy “is neutralized” but warns that Iran “still has the ability to harm allied forces and merchant ships” in the strait.
Hegseth, for his part, has assured that Iran has no air defenses left and that the Islamic Republic’s drone attacks were reduced on Thursday “by 95%”, in accordance with Department of Defense estimates.
