2025 – In the parliamentary elections in Greenland, two previous opposition parties become the new strongest forces. Both strive for possible independence from the Kingdom of Denmark. A takeover by the USA, as President Donald Trump is aiming for, is, however, considered unrealistic.
2011 – A devastating 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami kill at least 15,884 people in Japan. The forces of nature also plunge the state into a nuclear catastrophe. The Fukushima nuclear power plant is particularly affected.
