Widow of shot US activists Kirk announces his work continued

After the fatal assassination attempt on the ultra-right US activists and Podcaster Charlie Kirk, his widow has announced that she continued her husband’s work. “The movement that my husband has built up will not die,” said Erika Kirk on Friday in a speech broadcast live on the Internet. “I refuse to allow it.”

Kirk was a “perfect father and perfect husband”. “The malefactors who are responsible for my husband’s murder have no idea what they did,” she added. “You have no idea what fire you have sparked in this woman. The crying of this widow will resound all over the world like a battle cry.”

Kirk was a co -founder of the Turning Point USA organization (such as: turning point USA). He was shot in the city of Orem in the state of Utah on Wednesday at a performance on the Utah Valley University campus. The 31-year-old was considered one of the most influential right activists and podcaster and as a close supporter of President Donald Trump. Because of his publicly announced radical views on topics such as racism, gender identity and gun ownership, Kirk was strongly controversial.

On Friday, the authorities announced the arrest of the alleged assassin Tyler R.. According to reports, his father had confronted the 22-year-old with his similarity to search images, whereupon R. stood the crime. He was arrested under suspicion of murder, and the indictment against him is expected in the coming days. Murder can be punished in Utah with the death penalty.

According to initial findings, the young man comes from a family of Republicans in the strictly conservative city of St. George in Utah. The electrician apprentice can be seen on the online photos when posing with firearms or in a Halloween costume, where he seems to ride on Trump’s shoulders. “Who would have thought that this slim little guy would be able to commit such a terrible act?” said RS former neighbor Heather McKnight of the AFP news agency.

Utah’s republican governor Spencer Cox said that the 22-year-old has increasingly politicized in recent years. Investigators had discovered two unused cartridges with anti -fascist slogans near the crime scene. The words “Hey, fascist! Catch! Catch!” Gravated, on the other hand the words “Bella Ciao”, “, apparently alluded to the hymn of Italian resistance fighters in World War II. Further cartridges are said to have been marked with symbols and words from online games.

After the attack in Orem, the authorities had published recordings of surveillance cameras who show a young man with baseball cap and dark clothing, and asked the population for clues. According to governor Cox, a family member of R. finally reported to a family friend on Thursday evening. He then informed the police in the Washington district that R. had confessed to the family.

Kirk was considered Trump’s mouthpiece for the youth. In interviews, as a podcaster and at discussion events, he spread right theses and did not shy away from lies and false information. Trump’s Maga camp (Make America Great Again, makes America great again) reacted horrified to the assassination attempt. Some Trump supporters asked Kirk to “take revenge” or at least to determine all those who cheered his death.
