Danone Us, the yogurt yogurt company Yocrunch, announced on Tuesday the voluntary withdrawal of the market of its popular products following consumer reports about the presence of pieces of plastic in the lid that could cause drowning.
The company, based in White Plains, New York, issued the guideline on Friday for “all flavors and sizes of Yocrunch® products currently in the market,” according to the statement.
Food and medication administration (FDA) collaborating in the withdrawal of products.
“The plastic pieces are transparent, they can have sharp edges and could mean a risk to consumers, since some measure between 7 and 25 mm,” reads the company’s statement.
The affectation is only in the cover of the container that is separated and not within the yogurt itself, the document said. The company advised buyers to have acquired the affected products that do not consume them and get in touch to request a refund.
“The company is working quickly with its retail partners to withdraw the affected products from the shelves, while working to solve the problem and return to offer the Yocrunch products that so many people enjoy,” he said.
