A year after Trump attack: US Senate Wirf Secret Service "unforgivable" Error

A year after the failed assassination attempt on the U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump, a committee of the US Senate has caused serious omissions to the Secret Service. “What happened was unforgivable,” says an investigation report published on Sunday. The Secret Service responsible for the protection of president and other high -ranking politicians is accused of “a cascade of avoidable mistakes”, which Trump almost cost.

The Secret Service failed to “react to credible information and to coordinate with the local law enforcement authorities,” said Randa Paul, the Republican Chairman of the Committee. “It was a complete collapse of security at all levels.”

Paul complained of “bureaucratic indifference, the lack of clear protocols and the shocking refusal to react to direct threats”. Despite these failures, nobody was released. “We have to hold individuals responsible and make sure that reforms are fully implemented so that something like this never happens again,” emphasized Paul.

Trump also recently attested the security services with a view to the assassination attempt “errors”. The Secret Service had a “bad day”, he said in an interview. Nevertheless, he has “great confidence in these people”.

During the attempt to assassinate Butler in Pennsylvania, Trump was injured in a campaign event in July of last year. Afterwards, there were recordings for the world how he stretched his fist up and “fights, fights, fights” calls.

The Secret Service came under criticism because the 20-year-old perpetrator Thomas Matthew Crooks could take a position on the roof of a neighboring building. After the shots on Trump, Crooks was killed by a sniper of the Secret Service. There is almost nothing known about the motif of the student.
