Pedri forgives Kroos for a tough tackle that ended his Euro Cup

DONAUESCHINGEN.- Spanish midfielder Pedri forgave Toni Kroos after ending their European Championship campaign.

Pedri He was ruled out of the rest of Euro 2024 on Saturday with a left knee injury sustained after a tough challenge from Kroos near the start of the quarter-final, which Spain won.

Following the clash, Kroos publicly apologised to the young star with a post on Instagram and Pedri thanked the 34-year-old German, who was playing the final match of his career.

“Thank you Kroos for your message,” wrote Pedri, 21, in a post on social media. “This is football and these things happen. Your career and your record will remain forever.”

Pedri came off after eight minutes of Friday’s game and Spain went on to beat Germany 2-1 thanks to a goal from Mikel Merino in the final minute of extra time that was assisted by Dani Olmo, who replaced Pedri and also scored his team’s first goal.

Pedri will remain with the national team for the rest of the tournament. The semi-final against France is on Tuesday and, if they win, the final will take place five days later against England or the Netherlands.

“I came to Germany for the Euro and I’m going to stay here until the end. Because the dream, there’s no doubt about it, continues,” added Pedri.

The talented player also said that, although the injury is recent, the process of turning the page has already begun.

“This week it’s time to cheer on and contribute in another way to this great family. Their support and that of all of you has been incredible. The hardest moment has passed and the road back has already begun, to be back in top form for Barça soon,” he said.
